caretakers of the garden of the Earth
Consider the lilies of the field.
Pick a flower.
Count the petals.
Run your fingers along the stem, smoothing the leaves.
Notice the green.
Become aware of all greenness
the greenness of innocence
the greenness of spring
the greenness of grass and leaf and bud and branch
the greenness of pasture and paddock and lawn
the blues and the yellows
the green and red and bright whiteness of God.
Consider the lilies, being what they’re meant to be
taking no thought for tomorrow
being the best, most beautiful, most lustrous and gorgeous and brilliant blooms they can be.
Consider the wildflowers, the birds, the trees and grass
and ponder our role as caretakers of the garden of the Earth.
