red tape, red ribbon
In our prayers of solidarity, each week we pray for those in parliament, and this week we name (2 MPs' names) and the people in their electorates of (electorate name)
And we pray for all members of parliament struggling with their consciences over what is just and what is politic
and for the officials who advise them
and the many who turn policy into practice, striving to enact the theories, the intentions, the well-meant regulations in ways
that liberate and heal, rather than frustrate and bind.
This Advent season
as many of our political and public servants struggle once more with preparation of the Budget,
may the red tape of bureaucracy be transformed into the Christmas ribbon of generosity,
that the packages and initiatives and campaigns may become
gifts of spirit and liberation, justice and transformation.
